Be Careful What You Wish For’ begins with Harry Clifton and his wife Emma rushing to hospital to for urgent news following a fatal car crash involving their son Sebastian and his best friend Bruno. Have seen a few negative reviews of the book, but to me all these books are pretty much the same in terms of style and substance. I suspect there will be quite a few readers who begin to express exasperation at Archer's refusal to end the story and tie up all the loose ends. I'm so disappointed with this book that it's heartbreaking for me, especially since Jeffrey Archer is one of my favourite authors.

Both families are delighted until Priscilla Bingham, Jessica's future mother-in-law, has a visit from an old friend, Lady Virginia Fenwick, who drops her particular brand of poison into the wedding chalice. I don't recommend reading this book as a standalone novel because you would miss out on some of the history of the drama that is always in high gear in this epic family drama. Harry didn’t give a thought to the fact he would be among the first passengers to cross the Atlantic non-stop, as he could only think about his son, and how much he’d been looking forward to going up to Cambridge to begin his first year at university. This thoroughly engaging old-school, multigenerational saga harks back to the work of Malcolm Macdonald, Belva Plain, and Irwin Shaw. I kept saying to myself "just to the end of the chapter" but had to carry on to find out how they got out of the predicament everybody was always left in.Martinez will never get over the death of his son despite the fact it is his own fault and seeks revenge against any and all Barrington’s. The soap opera that is the lives of the Clifton and Barrington families continues in this fourth entry in the Clifton Chronicles. He reluctantly turned over and blinked at the little phosphorescent green hands on the bedside clock: 6:43 a.

Emma resolves to fill his spot but is stalled by Martinez, who nominates one of his men, Major Alex Fisher, to sabotage the firm during this critical moment. After leaving Oxford he was elected to the Greater London Council, and three years later at the age of 29, he became Member of Parliament for Louth. Neste volume, Jeffrey Archer dá continuidade à saga das famílias Clifton e Barrington, mas, na minha opinião este livro prendeu-se mais com os meandros dos negócios e da política e menos com as suas personagens.Marsden took her arm as they made their way down the steps toward the car; the first time he’d ever touched the mistress. in " The BookBrowse Review" - BookBrowse's membership magazine, and in our weekly " Publishing This Week" newsletter. Mabel has packed an overnight case for you, madam,” he stammered, “and if you’ll allow me, I’ll drive you to the hospital. He opened the door, and she climbed in and sank into the leather upholstery, as if she was an old lady.

Having been frustrated at having to wait until 2015 to see how this ends I am beginning to see there point.Archer's constant development of ideas set against historical events proves seamless, though he uses said events only in passing, unlike Follett or Rutherfurd in their respective multi-generational series. The real tragedy is the author's tendency to overuse the tricks that appeared charming earlier: Archer simply cannot stay away from cliff-hanger votes (in company board meetings this time) or in an unfinished book ending. Marsden pulled into the forecourt of the local garage, where he usually filled up on a Friday afternoon.
